Itinerary:
Day 1: Ouarzazate – Alnif – Risani –Merzouga sahara desert
Discover the treasures of southeast Morocco by setting out from Ouarzazate at 9 a.m. Pass across the picturesque Ait Saoun Pass as you travel the historic Trans-Saharan Trade Route. Stop at Agdez for sweeping views of Jbel Kissan and the magnificent Draa Valley. Proceed southeast along the valley, stopping briefly for coffee at Alnif before reaching Rissani, the ancient birthplace of the Alaouite family, which still rules Morocco. Arrive at Merzouga by sunset, where you will begin your camel ride across Erg Chebbi’s golden dunes. Before reaching your desert tent, stop halfway to see a sunset that will never be forgotten. Sleep in a nomadic tent, have a traditional meal, and listen to Berber music by the fire. Over night in merzouga.
Day 2: Explore Merzouga – Around merzouga
After breakfast, start your day early to take in the tranquil splendor of a desert dawn. Enjoy a traditional tea under the camel wool tents of the nomadic Berber people as you go on an off-road trip to learn more about their interesting way of life. Admire expansive vistas of the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes while exploring the defunct French mines of Mifis. Enjoy the lively sounds of Gnawa music played by the indigenous Bambara tribes as you visit the town of Khamlia. There’s a tasty Berber pizza for lunch. Learn about the region’s therapeutic plants and spices by later visiting a herbal pharmacy and Rissani’s traditional market. Return to Merzouga in the afternoon to unwind at your accommodation close to the dunes or go sandboarding.
Day 3: Merzouga – Arfoud –Tinghir– torda gorges –Imilchil
At 8:30 a.m., leave the desert and make your way to the High Atlas Mountains. You’ll stop to examine prehistoric artifacts as you go through Erfoud, which is well-known for its date festival and fossil discoveries. Before heading to Tinghir, have a look at the historic Khotarat irrigation system. Take a stroll through the striking Todra Gorges and drive through the verdant Todra Valley, stopping to take in the breathtaking vistas. After passing through picturesque Berber settlements, arrive to the fabled town of Imilchil. Take in the charm of this isolated mountain village by spending the night at a local guesthouse.
Day 3: Imilchil – the two Lakes (isli and tislit )
After an enjoyable breakfast, begin your exploration of Imilchil and the surrounding area. See the twin lakes of Isli and Tisslit, which are said to be an image of a sad love story in local folklore. Find more about the well-known yearly engagement event in the area, which honors love and harmony between young couples from different tribes. Visit the village of Imilchil, talk to the citizens, and take in their way of life. For a relaxing evening in the tranquil mountains setting, head back to your guesthouse.
Day 5: Imlchil – Tissadrine – Dades Valley – Monkey Toes Rocks – Dades
At 9:30 a.m., depart Imilchil and travel across the High Atlas Mountains to arrive at the charming Dades Valley. Travel through quaint Berber villages and across the Tissadrine Pass, which is renowned for its breathtaking vistas and hairpin curves. Before you reach your accommodation in Dades, take a moment to appreciate the distinctive Monkey Toes rock formations and the valley’s historic kasbahs. Relax by the pool or treat yourself to a massage in the afternoon.
Day 6 :Dades –Nomads – Rose Valley – Kasbah Amridil – Ouarzazate
At nine in the morning on your last day, travel on an off-road adventure into the highlands to visit the Boutaghrar nomads, who still live in caves as part of their traditional way of life. Before you go to the picturesque Rose Valley for lunch, have a cup of tea with them. Proceed to the Skoura Oasis via the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, where you will see the stunning example of Moroccan architecture, the 17th-century Kasbah Amridil. When you reach Ouarzazate in the late afternoon, your incredible journey comes to an end when you are dropped off at your accommodation.
