12 Days from Tangier
Day 1: Arriving in Tangier
When you get to Tangier, you’ll be greeted warmly.
The day starts with a tour of the city and its old medina. Later, you’ll go to the hotel for a nice dinner.
Day 2: Tangier to Tetouan to Chefchaouen
After a good breakfast, our 12-day desert tour from Tangier to Chefchaouen begins.
Along the way, we’ll stop in Tetouan. Chefchaouen is a lovely place with Andalusian-style buildings and famous blue and white houses. We’ll spend the night in a cozy riad.
Day 3: Chefchaouen to Volubilis to Meknes to Fes
We leave the northern area and head deeper into the country.
We pass through the Rif forest and visit the ancient Roman ruins at Volubilis. Then we go to Meknes, a historic city that was important under Sultan Moulay Ismail. We’ll see places like Bab Mansour and Dar EL Maa El Granero. The day ends with us staying in Fes.
Day 4: Fes – Fes – (Visit with Local Guide):
We finally arrive in Fes, the cultural and religious capital.
The day starts with a tasty breakfast. Our local guide will take us to famous places like the Madersas Cornices, Charrinha Bouinania, Attarin Souks, Fes El Jadid, and the Karaouine Mosque, which is home to the oldest university in the world. This site is recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. We’ll have dinner and stay overnight in a riad.
Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Merzouga:
After exploring Fes, we head to Merzouga.
Along the way, we pass through Ifrane, Azrou, Tizi n’Talghamet, Errachidia, and the Erfoud palm grove. In the evening, we enjoy camel rides in the desert, watching the sunset and listening to Berber songs. We’ll spend the night in a Khaima, with dinner under the stars.
Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate:
After a nice breakfast and a refreshing shower, we travel to Ouarzazate.
Our first stop is Rissani, where we visit its lively souk. We continue through the Jorf palm grove, Ksar Touroug, Tinjedad, Tinghir, the stunning Todra Gorges, the Boumalen Dades valley, Kelaa Me Gouna, and the Valley of Roses. We’ll have dinner and stay in a riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 7: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech:
We leave Ouarzazate and head to Marrakech.
Along the way, we visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the kasbah of Telouet. We also cross the Tizi n Tichka pass at 2260 meters, enjoying great views. We arrive in Marrakech and settle in for the night.
Day 8: Explore Marrakech:
This entire day is dedicated to exploring Marrakech. We’ll immerse ourselves in its monuments and special places, including the famous Jemaa el Fnaa square, a vibrant hub of activity and storytelling. Marrakech’s charm is often attributed to its riads, providing an authentic experience that we’ll savor during our stay.
Day 9: Marrakech – Casablanca:
On the ninth day of our Desert tour from Tangier, we set our sights on Casablanca, the legendary city on the Atlantic Ocean. Renowned for its captivating architecture, we’ll visit the Corniche and the Hassan II Mosque, the second-largest mosque globally. Evening accommodation will be in a hotel or riad.
Day 10: Casablanca – Rabat – Asilah:
Transitioning from the economic to the administrative capital, we explore Rabat’s Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower, and the Kasbah Oudaya. In the afternoon, our journey continues to Asilah, where we’ll enjoy dinner and accommodation.
Day 11: Asilah
A leisurely day unfolds after breakfast, allowing us the freedom to pursue various activities, from sightseeing to shopping or simply relaxing. We’ll spend the night in Asilah at a hotel or riad.
Day 12: Asilah – Tangier
As our 12 days Desert tour from Tangier concludes, we’ll head back to Tangier after breakfast, marking the end of this immersive and enriching exploration of Morocco.
